Witch aoe is more frontal and wizard aoe is more 360. This is not an absolute thing as the witch voltaic pulse is a player based 360 aoe. But in general, a witch will hit more mobs that are further away and less mobs behind her. The wizard will hit less mobs further away and more mobs behind him.

You can probably *stop* grinding them about 4-5 levels past where the start level is. In fact, it's probably recommended that you do stop 4 levels past them.
