How to grind down cinnamon sticks : AskCulinary - reddit
Feb 22, 2013 · I bought a few of them when they were on sale here for $8, and use them for all sorts of herb and spice grinding. For large leaves and bark, like cinnamon, bay leaves etc, you'll need to crumble them a bit first, but 10 seconds with the back of a cleaver is all that's needed for cinnamon sticks.
Top responsesI use a cheap coffee grinder. Bought it for around $10. It can also be used for just about any other whole spice.10 votesA mortar and pestle would do the trick too.5 votesWas wondering if anyone has tried a Microplane Zester/Grater for cinnamon or any other spice? How easy are they to use?2 votesI usually use a microplane. I guess not super effective if you need a ton of cinnamon, but I never really have. At least not for home use.2 votesThank you all for the advice its been most helpful in my endeavour with Ceylon cinnamon1 voteYou've got enough bulk that it would be worth using a thermomix or good quality blender. I've used a mortar and pestle followed by thermomix for great . read more1 voteSee all
